Could a traineeship be right for you?

Could a traineeship be right for you? If you are currently considering your career options and plans for the future, then a traineeship might be right for you.

A traineeship is an education and training programme that could be found in either the private sector or the public sector, which incorporates work experience and preparing young people like you for their future careers, by helping them to become 'work ready'.

Although employers are not required to pay trainees for the work placement, and traineeships are currently exempt from the minimum wage, many traineeships are paid positions, or they cover travel costs and other expenses.

The skills and experienced gained as a trainee will be valuable additions to your CV and will make you stand out to employers and recruiters once you are decided upon your chosen career path.

A traineeship could last from 6 weeks up to 6 months, so there will be a position to suit you. Aimed at 16 to 24 year olds, a traineeship is the perfect way to get you ready for an apprenticeship position, or a job.

If you are interested in finding out more, then our candidates team is on hand to answer any questions you might have. candidates@jobs4teens.co.uk

Are you a Parent helping your Teenager to find work?

Are you a Parent helping your Teenager to find work? Then we can help you with the process.

We are more than aware that not all young people aged 16 and over want to continue learning and go on to higher and further education. For them a traineeship, an apprenticeship, or a job might be the best option. However, the majority of the information out there is geared heavily towards teenagers continuing in education for as long as possible.
We wish that more employers would consider introducing apprenticeship schemes. There is still some Government assistance for those firms willing to offer places. Our own data and research shows that there are thousands of teenagers aged 16-17 who would prefer to work as an apprentice, if the places were out there.
If your teenager is under 16 then they will only be able to seek out part-time work, but the skills and experience they gain from doing a part time job will prepare them for any future opportunities, as well as giving them some money of their own to spend.

Older teenagers and school leavers are generally more focused on their options and whether or not further education is right for them. An 18 year old with real work experience on their CV will stand out to employers as being work-ready.

We encourage all parents to visit the Parents & Guardians section of our website and pick up some useful tips and advice.

Jobs4teens saves hundreds of pounds to Businesses recruiting young people

Jobs4teens saves hundreds of pounds to Businesses recruiting young people

Specialist Recruitment Company Jobs4teens Limited has launched
a new recruitment business concept which focuses on helping businesses connect with pre-screened, employment ready young people who are looking for an opportunity to work.

With thousands of vetted young people on their database, Jobs4teens provide Greater Manchester Businesses with a stress-free service helping them to employ teenagers and young people.  The new service helps reduce annual recruitment costs.

A study by Oxford Economics has shown that the cost of recruitment can grow into the thousands annually. Jobs4teens offers Subscription Packages to suit all sizes of business starting at just £30 for any business that might want to give an opportunity to a bright and enthusiastic young person.

A monthly subscription gives you access to pre-screened candidates on an ongoing basis saving employers both time and money.

“Employing teenagers and young people has its merits and advantages”. Said Business Development Manager, Nicola Sherriff

Pictured is Nicola Sherriff, Business Development Manager

“The enthusiasm and keenness of youth is often a huge benefit to a company or organisation.  The relatively high cost of recruitment and the greater than average turnover of employees does mean that some businesses struggle to keep up with the process of finding vetting and interviewing candidates on an ongoing basis”

“Our existing clients have already discovered that sing us is a lot simpler and less expensive than they had experienced previously”

The prospect of taking on a teenager or young person can be daunting.  Jobs4teens has the knowledge and resources to assist young people to become job-ready for any business that is considering hiring.

Business owners with the most to gain from the new recruitment business model are those who regularly employ between two to ten teenage staff or young people at any given time.

Nicola added: “With a Select Subscription, you get pre-screened, employment ready candidates who are ready to present for interview quickly”

“Without the need to advertise the vacancy or employ a costly recruitment consultancy, HR Managers find the process effective, productive and stress free”

“So if you are a business owner looking for young candidates to fill roles as full time employees, trainees, apprentices, interns or part time employees, then contact Jobs4teens today.”

“We have thousands of registered candidates from all over the United Kingdom looking for an opportunity local to them”

“Our database is divided into 3 age categories:13-15 year old’s, 16-17 year old’s, and 18+ which means we can supply you with the candidates you are looking for, whatever roles you have on offer.”

Do you need help with Interview Preparation for that Part-time Job?

Do you need help with Interview Preparation for that Part-time Job? Then read on…….

So, you’ve worked hard on your CV and asked us at Jobs4teens for help, you’ve read our CV advice jobs4teens blog,  you’ve sent off and handed in loads of CVs, you’ve followed up with phonecalls and now, finally, you’ve got an interview.  It doesn’t matter if it’s for a full-time position, part-time job or a holiday job, the basic interview principles apply right across the board.

What to wear……
Always err on the side of caution and dress smartly. Even if the employer says it’s going to be just “an informal chat”, or even if the job is a small part-time job, like dog walking or a paper round – show your employer you are a professional young person. Don’t wear trainers, or sportswear, and keep your make up to a minimum. Trousers or skirt and a plain shirt are fine, you don’t need to go in a suit, and there’s never anything wrong in wearing your school uniform if needs be (with or without the tie).

Preparation and research……
Before the interview do a little research. Who is the employer? How long have they been in business? How much can you find out about the company online to show you’ve done your research? For larger companies, you can often find out what their existing employees think of them on https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/index.htm or you can read online customer reviews on their Facebook page, customer comments on Twitter, or photo posts on Instagram.
Write down and take your notes with you and take a pen. Take a copy of your CV in case you need to refer to this in your interview.  If the employer didn’t ask for a CV then take a copy anyway and as always, if you need any help with your CV, then please let us know at candidates@jobs4teens.co.uk
Has your interviewer asked you to take anything with you?  Like a copy of your exam results or your passport? Don’t forget these. You will not want to come across as disorganised.

Getting there………
How are you going to get to the interview? If you’re going by public transport or car then allow extra time during rush hour. Its ok to be early, but not too early. We reckon 10 to 15 mins beforehand is about right. If you’re earlier than that, then have a walk round the block to gather your thoughts and use up some time. There is a really handy and accurate transport planner here https://nationaljourneyplanner.travelinesw.com/swe/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en&timeOffset=15
Will you be walking there? We know it’s not always a great look, but borrow an umbrella, you might be thankful of it. If you’re ever unsure about your route or travelling time, then do a trial run the day before to test your journey out.

The clichés………
As your folks at home might say – ‘Just be yourself’. Be honest if you’ve not got any prior experience. At Jobs4teens we work with employers who know you’re not likely to have much experience if you’re at school or college. Your hobbies interests and ambitions are just as important at this stage, so try and talk about your commitment to a sports team, your dedication to rehearsing for your band, or how this part-time job is going to be relevant to any future career choices.

Do you have any questions……?
Take a list of any questions that you might want to ask about the company, the job and maybe your potential work colleagues. Take more questions than think you might need as many of them might be answered during the interview itself leaving you with nothing other than, “Ummm, I think you answered everything I wanted to ask.”  at the end.
Use any unanswered questions from your research and your notes – For example:  “How long have you been in business for?” or “What are your busiest times of the year?”

That’s it…….
Please let us know how you get on at interview. We love to hear about your success stories, and we’re always happy to offer you any guidance or help if you need it when preparing for an interview, or if you think that one you have attended went badly………. Just drop us a line candidates@jobs4teens.co.uk or message us on 07387 758 056

Do you need some help writing your CV?

Do you need some help writing your CV? Then we have some hints, tips and advice. Learning the art of good CV writing is going to help you to land the job opportunity you apply for.

Your CV is designed to be a summary of your experience, skills and education.

In the world of recruitment, it is often said that employers will spend a maximum of 30 seconds reviewing a CV. This is not very long to make a great impression and stand out from the crowd.

Your CV should be written with one purpose in mind – to make somebody want to meet you in person.

Target your CV to the job, it is very common to have more than one CV, ready for the different opportunities which might arise.
Consider your layout. Your CV must be clear, logical and easy to read. There are plenty of downloadable CV templates online.

Keep it concise, the general rule is not to go over 2 or 3 pages.

Avoid cliche's, don’t use statements like “I love working as part of a team”, “I’m dynamic” or “I have good attention to detail” as they lose their impact, employers want to hear about ‘YOU’

Make the content do the talking, not the CV template you have used. A fancy layout and bright colours are unnecessary. Save selling your personality for the interview

Proof read what you have written thoroughly, and try to make sure your spelling and grammar are perfect
Honesty is the best policy, never be tempted to lie, or exaggerate your skills and experience on your CV

The interview will be in the bag!!

Keep your personal statement brief and use it to promote what you could add the business you are hoping to work for.

Is your firm reaching its Corporate Social Responsibility goals?

Is your firm reaching its Corporate Social Responsibility goals? If you are a business owner and you care about being a socially responsible employer, then providing an #opportunity for a #teenager or #youngperson will help you to achieve your goals. Most firms have a requirement to have a CSR Policy in place and their suppliers and customers will have obligations to trade with firms that do take CSR seriously. By taking on a #trainee or having an #apprenticeship scheme, your firm will retain customers and may attract new ones.
We have a business model that can supply you with talent for £90.00 per month. We ensure that only pre-screened candidates suitable for the role are presented to you for interview.
We have thousands of registered teenagers and young people looking for an opportunity.
The registered candidates are located all over the UK and are keen to find roles locally.

Do you agree that apprenticeships are important?

Do you agree that apprenticeships are important?  We believe that #apprenticeships are vital in ensuring that young people have an alternative to the further education and higher education options at college and university that see them leave with additional qualifications but little or no real world work experience. The apprenticeship schemes give an option that is teaching skills and vocational learning whilst also providing an income and independence.

We can help any employer or organisation with an active apprentice programme to source excellent candidates. Our registered teenagers stand out as being enthusiastic about beginning their journey into the world of work. They are seeking opportunities as apprentices and trainees. Jobs4teens doesn't only support teenagers! 24th April 2019

What we do......

Jobs4teens is a recruitment agency which specialises in matching local teens with local jobs because we recognise that our younger talent requires different support than our older candidates.

We ensure that our clients are responsible employers who pay correct rates of pay and risk assess their young employees. Above all, our young candidates are helped and supported during their employment journey.

Our service doesn't stop there, we offer a free HR audit to our client members to ensure that they are ready to employ a young person.

Whilst our company name suggests that we only register teenagers, we want to let you know that we will represent people of all employable ages and will actively support anybody who wishes to register with us to find their next opportunity.  The only difference is that we just try that little bit harder than your average recruitment company, and we ensure that we only partner with employers that have been screened by our resident CIPD qualified HR professional.

"Jobs4teens believes in equality and therefore would not discriminate against anybody on the grounds of age, sex, religion, race or ability, we work with everyone of an employable age" - Nicola Sherriff, Business Development Manager, Jobs4teens Ltd.

So...... if you are looking for your next move, register with Jobs4teens and connect with a supportive and professional specialist recruitment company.
